Hold Your Finish

Making permanent, long-term positive progress in your golf game is a process that involves increasing your awareness of what your body is doing during the swing. If you can’t feel it, you won’t be aware of it. If you are not aware of it, you can’t change or improve it.

One of the best ways to increase your awareness of what happened during the swing is immediately after the swing, while you are holding your finish position. You have a couple of seconds immediately after striking the ball when you kinesthetic memory is highest. Holding your finish position will help you tap into what happened during the swing so you can accelerate your learning.

Developing a highly refined self-awareness and feedback system is key to helping you pick up more distance. It is also going to be one of the significant side-benefits for your entire game once you’ve completed this book and the accompanying drills. Developing your feedback system and awareness will help you to understand your swing better, and you will ultimately have a lot more confidence in your swing because you will be shaping it deliberately.

Having a more refined feedback and awareness system will also help with consistency, scoring, chipping, and putting. In fact, the idea of paying attention to feedback during the swing is so important that I cover it in all of the instructional material I develop. Make holding your finish and learning from each shot a life-long habit.

The SAVE AS link takes you to the Toe Tap Drill instead of the Hold Your Finish Drill.
